Setting Up LinkedIn Learning Through ISU

 While most of us may already have a LinkedIn account, not all may be familiar with the tool called LinkedIn Learning. 



LinkedIn Learning is an education platform that offers thousands of expert-led courses covering topics like business, technology, creative skills, and personal development. It provides video tutorials, interactive exercises, and personalized course recommendations based on your career goals and interests. By using LinkedIn Learning, you can develop new skills, stay current with industry trends, and earn certificates that can be showcased directly on your LinkedIn profile, helping enhance your professional credibility and career opportunities.

How to Get Started: 

Step 1: Go to my.illinoisstate.edu 
Step 2: Search LinkedIn Learning in the search bar
Step 3: Decide to connect your LinkedIn account (can be skipped) 
Step 4: Answer some of the prompts - most recent role, level of expertise, areas of focus
     From these answers, the platform will create a custom Learning Plan for you, highlighting the objectives you will achieve throughout the course plan. 
Step 5: Click on Begin this Plan in the bottom center 
Step 6: Pick from the more than 20,000 course offerings 


Other Features: 

AI Role Play: This feature allows users to engage in simulated conversations with AI. As you speak, the AI will respond accordingly, giving feedback in needed areas. After concluding each session, you will receive personalized feedback on your communication style, along with course recommendations to strengthen and grow your skills. 

Certifications: If you are looking for a more robust or industry-accepted course, LinkedIn Learning also offers comprehensive professional certifications. At the end of these courses or sessions, users are granted an official certification. 

Coding Practice: LinkedIn Learning also supports hands-on coding through courses that integrate tools like GitHub models. These coding practices are also guided by expert-level instructors via video and include interactive experiments and transcripts embedded into each. 

Jobs at Illinois State University: This feature highlights job boards specifically geared to ISU's campus or general area. This provides an overview of opportunities within the area as well as a list of ISU alumni who currently work at the institution.
